Daily Routines

Daily routines: Times indicated are flexible, to accommodate the diversity of the group and spontaneous happenings. The programme is consistent enough to enable children to predict and anticipate the passage of time.

 

 

Over Two’s Daily Routine

7h30-8h30 (times are approximate) Arrival – all children are dropped off in the Over Two area

8h30- Our Infants and Toddlers go to their own room. Children have the option of indoor or outdoor play.

9h30- Morning meeting time: children are able to share news, talk about activities that are available during the day or important issues.

9h45- Hand washing and morning tea. Cubs picnic for their morning tea and the Whales have a revolving morning tea.

11h15- Toilet routine for younger children and nappy changing routine. Tidy up time.

11h45- The Cubs have mat time, wash hands, have lunch and then settle down for a sleep or a rest. The Whales have their mat time during the Cubs’ lunch, then have lunch. All non sleeping children have the choice of in- or outdoor play.

14h15- Children who are still sleeping are woken and join the other children inside and/or outside

14h15- Toilet routine for younger children and nappy changing.

14h30- Hand washing and revolving afternoon tea.

15h30-Tidy up outside. Depending on the weather, children may remain outside or play inside

16h30- Our Infants and Toddlers join the children in the Over Two area.

Home time for everyone by 17h30.

Infants and Toddlers Daily Routine

 

8h30 (times are approximate)- Infants or Toddlers who need to have a morning sleep are put to bed. The other Infants and Toddlers engage in the learning experiences planned for them.

9h15- Nappy changing routine starts. Children are prepared to participate in morning tea. Depending on the weather, children may go outside to play or remain inside.

11h00 to 11.30- Lunch time and then nappy changing

11h45- Infants and Toddlers who need an afternoon sleep are put to bed and one teacher remains with these children until they are asleep. Infants and Toddlers who do not need a sleep now remain in the playroom.

13h00- As children awake they are dressed, their nappies are checked, have their bottles and then join the other children in play.

14h30- Afternoon tea. Nappy changing time. Children play in- or outdoors

16h30- Tidy up and preparation to go upstairs to the Over Two's area.

16h45- All the Infants and Toddlers who remain for the late afternoon join the older children.

Home time for everyone by !7h30
